Add AQR code to your product packaging
AQR codes are placed on the front of pack, making them easy to find and scan. They look like a standard QR code but contain additional markers that allow a smartphone to detect them from a greater distance.
Zapvision helps people who are blind or low vision access product information on packaging, with a single, Accessible QR code.
Get in touchInvisible packaging is everywhere. It’s the packaging that only sighted people can use.
It hides vital information like allergens, ingredients, and safety warnings from anyone who can’t see the label. For 315 million people who are blind or have low vision, invisible packaging turns every shopping trip into a guessing game. It puts independence out of reach. It forces people to rely on others for basic information. It hasn’t changed in decades.
Through a simple Accessible QR (AQR) code placed on the front of the packaging, product information becomes accessible to everyone. It’s easy, instant, and inclusive. People who are blind or have low vision can access the same product information as sighted consumers with enhanced font sizes and clear audio announcements by scanning with accessibility apps like Be My Eyes, Microsoft Seeing AI or Envision.
Find out moreAQRs still function like a standard QR code when scanned with native camera apps. They provide essential product information for people who are blind or have low vision but can also connect sighted users to websites, promotions or any other brand experience you choose.
The subtle adaptation of the QR code means it maintains it recognition for sighted users, allowing you to link to your webpage or AR campaign.
Unlocks enhanced distance detection, as well as important product packing information that would otherwise require additional human assistance to access.
AQRs are optimised for accessibility and are scannable from 1.5x the distance of a standard QR code and at wider angles, making them faster and easier to use for people who are blind or have low vision.
AQRs are designed to scale easily, fitting seamlessly into existing workflows. That’s why they’re being adopted worldwide and live on 5 billion+ product items, across 26 markets for hundreds of world-leading brands.
No redesign needed. AQRs integrate into your current packaging seamlessly, allowing brands to add accessibility without disrupting design, keeping the process simple, scalable, and cost-effective.
AQRs deliver product information in a clear, consistent, and structured format—ensuring essential details like allergens, ingredients, and usage instructions are accurately presented every time.
AQRs meet global accessibility standards and align with GS1’s Sunrise 2027 initiative, supporting the shift to 2D barcodes. They help brands stay ahead on compliance while delivering meaningful inclusion for people with sight loss.
AQRs were expertly assessed by The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and tested with the blind and low vision community, ensuring they’re easy to detect and work seamlessly with trusted accessibility apps already in use.

Using a Zapvision-enabled app, users can scan the pack from 1.5x the distance of a standard QR code. At 115cm the app will announce the category of the product and its physical distance from the user through text-to-speech.
At around 60cm, the app will announce key product information like ingredients, allergens, usage instructions and more in an accessible way using text-to-speech and larger fonts etc.
Accessible QR codes are already on over 5 billion product items globally. Meet some of the brands leading the way in a more accessible future for everyone.
