The brief

VALSER wanted to celebrate its Alpine heritage while reinforcing its position as the go-to premium water for fine-dining. The team asked Studio Z to:

1. Tell the brand story in a fresh way – celebrating the 25-year journey from Alpine source to bottle.
2. Add tangible value at the table – helping diners choose the perfect accompaniment to every course.
3. Unlock one-to-one personalisation – letting guests leave with a digital keepsake, not just an empty bottle.

VALSER experience

The experience

Scan the bottle’s QR code and the table becomes your stage: a seamless WebAR scene rises from the label, guiding diners through AI-curated food-and-drink pairings, a tap-to-customise bottle canvas where Generative AI paints a one-of-a-kind label in seconds, and a miniature Alpine landscape that narrates VALSER’s 25-year journey from mountain spring to glass. All of these assets were all rendered in photo real 3D and designed to feel as natural to explore as turning the bottle in your hand.

VALSER design

The DESIGN

We designed the experience to reflect VALSER’s premium feel with clean Swiss visuals, subtle animations, and smooth interactions. Early tests showed the splash screen slowed users down, so we simplified it to one tap—instantly improving engagement. The restaurant setting, with white tablecloths and low light, posed AR challenges. To solve this, we fined tuned our WebAR world tracking tech, to provide a robust experience. The result felt effortless and elegant, blending seamlessly into the dining environment without feeling like a layer on top.

VALSER technology

THE TECHNOLOGY

The experience was built using Mattercraft and ran entirely in-browser using Zappar’s WebAR technology, with realistic 3D bottles rendered through custom shaders. Scantrust QR codes provided secure, trackable access on every unit. Generative AI powered personalised bottle art, while OpenAI generated menu-specific pairing suggestions. All activity fed into a real-time dashboard, giving VALSER full visibility on performance. The tech stack made it easy to scale and quick to iterate, and with improved AR tracking rolling out, it’s ready to go beyond the table into retail, tourism, and more.

VALSER result

THE RESULTS

The campaign saw strong engagement despite limited print materials for the pilot stage, with a category-leading average dwell time of nearly four minutes, showing deep interaction with the content. A streamlined splash screen helped triple launch rates, while personalised bottles drove social sharing and extended reach. VALSER also saw a measurable uplift in premium SKUs at test locations. The experience proved that well-executed AR can not only enhance storytelling at the table but also deliver real commercial impact and set the stage for national expansion.
