It’s been a busy month here at the Zappar Labs. We’ve released a flurry of new shirts into markets across the USA, Mexico and the UK, and we have been working on a healthily large bunch of more!
You’ll have to stay tuned for our new batch of work – naturally we’ll post them on Zappar.com as soon as we’re able – but we’ve also been beavering away with other aspects of the business too.
You’ve all heard about our Zaphats by now right? Well the announcement of our revolutionary Zombie making technology garnered us some great press and write-ups from across the world. Not least this nice little review from TechCrunch:
As long as the hat is comfortable, stylish and competitively priced I find it hard to see what’s not to like here. Being able to make you look like a Zombie is icing on the cake.
Imagine an entire AR costume party, or an entire stage play occurring where the actors’ costumes are rendered by the eyewear of the audience. Concepts like the Zaphat could be a stepping stone in the path to a future state like this.
Or it could just be a cool hat.
Thanks TechCrunch guys – we’ll be sure to invite you to the Halloween party just as soon as we’ve augmented the fancy dress!
But as with the best augmented reality experiences we don’t just exist within the digital world… We’ve also been featured in some great coverage in the more traditional, print media too.
We were especially proud to be featured in the pages of… well… Pages Magazine over in Germany – who wrote a fantastically interesting piece on Augmented Reality Storytelling and were full of excitement for what it is that we’re doing to enhance the experience:
The potential, commercial applications for Zappar are especially interesting, even more so when you consider that the first, tentative experiments with AR clothing happened barely two years ago.
So all in all a busy month of August, especially when considering that it’s traditionally the time of year when everyone jets off on vacation and leaves their work behind them. Not us at the Zappar Labs though… We’ve got far too many ideas and projects on the go to spend the time resting.
We can sleep when we’ve completed assembling the Zombie hordes…
