Beginning this week, I have the amazing opportunity to introduce Max and Caspar to the great state of Texas! I am absolutely beside myself and cannot wait to experience Texas, Austin, and SXSW Interactive through their British point of view. Bring on the queso, hospitality, BBQ, and live music that can only be found in Austin.
The Zappar team will zip around downtown Austin to participate in all things official and unofficial of the infamous conference, by networking, discovering the latest technology trends and spreading the Zappar story and mind-blowing zaps with everyone we meet.
Samsung is planning a pop-up for their new Galaxy product, including their much talked about Gear 360 camera. This could make VR more accessible to consumers - and might convince me to switch from my iPhone (gasp!). There’s rumour of a steer towards mobile-centric immersive content delivery from Oculus Rift (and others), similar to the experience provided by Facebook 360. In addition to the biggest hardware brands, this will be the second year of the unofficial event called AR/VR Austin. With a focus on leading edge displays and experiences, this is our chance to try the latest in augmented and virtual reality from indie developers and hardware manufacturers.
Zappar will be sponsoring the yearly underground VIP event that is cheekily called MEATUp (yes that’s m-e-a-t!) We look forward to escaping the chaos of President Obama’s entourage and keynote speech to the rooftop of Fogo de Chao. Our fabulous SXSW veteran hosts will transform the deck of the Brazilian churrascaria into an exclusive entrepreneur’s lounge and meeting place for four nights (Friday 11th – Monday 14th). #Fogo9 is in its ninth year, and is known to be the go-to place during SXSW Interactive. For the first time, attendees will have zappable VIP badges, giving guests the chance experience the capabilities of Zappar’s software.
Throughout the festival, Max and Caspar and I will be on the lookout for the most exciting AR and technology news - as well as notable Texas finds - so make sure you’re following @ZapparApp on Twitter for the latest announcements, and watch out for our blog-post live from Texas!
