Now that we have paused for breath at the end of an exhausting 2013 and finally take a look back we can’t believe what we’ve achieved. (Jan ’13 really does seem like a lifetime ago).

Now that we have paused for breath at the end of an exhausting 2013 and finally take a look back we can’t believe what we’ve achieved. (Jan ’13 really does seem like a lifetime ago).

As readers from our blog will know, we’ve always set out our stall as leaders in AR-enabled products and infotainment experiences. Describing our work as bite-sized entertainment, and boy did we deliver over the last 12 months.

With our incredible team of artists, coders and engineers at Zappar Labs we’ve bended what we thought was technically possible with our proprietary platform across a number of product categories and developed a groundbreaking new AR solution with Zapcodes.

We broke new territory with AR-enabled products with partnerships for puzzles (Cardinal), torches (Milkshake), wristbands (TLC), costumes (Morphsuits), and publishing (Pedigree) alongside the greetings cards, T-shirts, device cases, and hats we’ve already produced.

Our roster of collaborations and licensed experiences read like a roll-call of honour – Sony Music, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, Warner Bros, Activision, Disney, Marvel, Rovio, Lucas Arts, Sega, Nickelodeon, Fox, Sanrio and Hasbro to name a few.

We continued our fantastic collaboration with ASDA setting the agenda for award-wining in-store retail-tainment at Easter and Halloween.

We had celebrity-led marketing campaigns for brands as diverse as Dunkin Donuts, Lenovo, Blue, Sony Pictures and Sony Home Entertainment.

We created a whole new use case for AR as a second screen mobile experience for the world first and record breaking partnership with Sony Music and One Direction during the 7-hour live broadcast that was 1D Day: 25 exclusive zapcodes, generating a whopping 1.5m Zaps in a day and 3,000 Zaps a second at times.

Throughout the year we had an incredible response from our users with some fantastic support emails, extraordinary Zappar Powered pictures, brilliant comments through social media and positive ratings on the app stores.

So we’d like to take this opportunity to raise a virtual glass and say a big Zappar Powered ‘Cheers’ to thank all our users, partners and licensors for an amazing 2013.

And here’s to an even bigger and better 2014: what a lot of stuff we’ve already got lined up. There’s the incredible new Zapcode Creator launching in January (a massive thanks to the tens of thousands of people who signed up to the Beta already); we have new product launches in bedding, lunch boxes, stationary, footwear, charms and figurines rolling out across the year; our own self-published Little Book of Zaps will be available; and we have exciting new partnerships across the globe from Brazil, to Israel and the Far East.

There are a few other major R&D initiatives we’ll be announcing but we’ll keep those up our sleeves for the moment – there’s got to be something new to post about next year right?!
